Visiting the Perigord

The limits of the department Dordogne correspond to those of the old province Périgord.
Its south eastern part is known as the Black Périgord, probably due to its thick woods of dark green oaks or maybe because of its black truffles. The landscape owes much of its beauty to the two rivers the Dordogne and the Vézère, whose valleys have yielded so many marvellous treasures : some of the most famous prehistoric painted caves, many small mediaeval towns with colourful markets, castles and churches all nestling in the countryside well known for its exceptional beauty.

Different ways of enjoying the area

Swimming

Swimming is possible in different lakes just not far away (lac de Tamniès, lac de Neufont, lac de St.Epur...)and in the near rivers.

Canoeing

Canoeing is a treat as you travel through almost untouched countryside and available along both : the Dordogne and the Vézère. Life can be like a long calm river as you paddle along the changing waters.

Walking

Walking has become more popular in our area and there is even a marked footpath which comes close to our farm here and links on to others. You can use them for exercise but for also communing with nature and simply taking in the beautiful countryside.

Biking

Biking is ideal for exploring the quiet little corners around here and the sporty will love the challenge of the hilly landscape.
WE LET MODERN BICYCLES.

Horse riding

Horse riding too is a great way to get to know the local area and there are several local stables which organise accompanied rides for children and adults.

At just 30 kms away you can discover the following :
Montignac Lascaux -15 kms
Sarlat the medieaval jewel - 30 kms
Les Eyzies and its newly extended National Museum of Prehistory – 15kms
For a good overall view of our area look at the Michelin map 329 local Corrèze/Dordogne 1:175000.
